2020 was year wrought with many challenges. Particularly, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on families, businesses and governments has placed undue strain on the cost of living, operations and governance. While families are learning to adapt to the harsh realities of today\’s world, businesses, governments are adopting flexible and more technology centric measures to shield their business from future economic shocks and governments are trying to ease the impact of the pandemic on their economies through various policy measures. One key point worth noting is that the world has changed.
Without a doubt, there is a need for more adaptive and sustainable models to life, business and governance. The susceptibility of these key elements to the dynamic and volatile nature of today\’s world necessitates such need. While current practices remain relevant, there is a need to look towards how we can build a sustainable and a shock resistant future. One that shields todays growth for the tomorrow we all seek.
There is a need to start looking at models that create value as against generating. To put into context, government as an example must shift their focus from revenue generation to revenue creation. Revenue generation relies on existing structures; it is like milking a cow you own. However, revenue creation is building structures that generates new streams of income. This I believe will set the world on the path to growth and a sustainable future.
